The fame of the "Morvarid" family began with Shihab al-Din Abdullah Morvarid, known by his pen name Bayani. It is said that Shihab al-Din's father, Shams al-Din Mohammad, who was a minister in the royal court of his time, was sent on a mission to Bahrain by Timurid princes. On his return, he brought back several precious pearls, hence earning the nickname "Morvarid," which means "pearl" in Persian, a name that remained in his family
Following the ratification of the Provincial and District Councils Act in October 1962, the scholars of Mashhad, including Ayatollah Marvarid, convened clandestine meetings to devise a unified strategy to confront the government. In response to the tragic incident at Feyziyeh School and the arrest of Imam Khomeini, Ayatollah Marvarid, alongside other Mashhad scholars, issued declarations expressing their vehement protests. Furthermore, after Imam Khomeini's exile to Turkey, Ayatollah Marvarid, in concert with other Mashhad scholars, orchestrated plans for a sit-in at Goharshad Mosque, which ultimately could not be realized due to the closure of the mosque
In the era following the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Morvarid, through the issuance of proclamations, ardently supported principled and value-oriented candidates in parliamentary and presidential elections. After the demise of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he was deeply concerned about the governance of the country. However, upon the selection of Ayatollah Khamenei as the Supreme Leader, he expressed his delight, considering Ayatollah Khamenei a trustworthy and sagacious individual. Despite his advanced age and the indifference of some, Ayatollah Morvarid frequently visited Ayatollah Khamenei. The Supreme Leader, in every meeting, expressed his joy and gratitude for Ayatollah Morvarid's kindness, appreciating the honor of his visits
